A trained student of Indian Classical Music, Shubhangi has studied under the tutelage of Mrs Shobha Abhyankar, (mother of renowned classical singer Sanjeev Abhyankar) & Shri Ramesh Sukhtankar for over ten years in Pune and Goa. She has performed on stage from a very young age, and has given numerous stage performances in both Classical and Light Music (Hindi / Marathi) all over India and abroad. A semifinalist of the earliest episodes of the television music show - ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ and a special invitee for the Asha Bhosale special on ‘Meri Awaaz Suno’, Shubhnangi is a versatile singer, and has recorded albums of the world Music / Relaxation / Meditation Genre, like the ‘Saqi Lounge’, accompanying the noted Ghazal singer, Ghulam Ali. She launched her first individual album - ‘Krishnagaan’ some time ago which also features numbers by the illustrious Suresh Wadkar. Her soul stirring Konkani song “Jaytyo Raati” for the Konkani Album “Moga Majya” - composed by music director E R Vinay created waves in the Goa music scene. The Album won the best Konkani Album award in 2014.
Her recent project of a Bollywood Jazz album – in collaboration with Goa’s leading bass player Colin D Cruz, has generated a lot of praise and following from the listeners around the world.
She has been performing live with her own band MANTHAN, sings Gazals/ Hindi/Marathi Light Music for corporate events, Weddings and other social / cultural events. Apart from MANTHAN, Shubhangi also performs with the ‘Brown Indian Band’ and ‘Smoking Chutney’ - Jazz and Fusion Jazz Bands based in Goa. She performed live with the band at the Koktobel Jazz Festival in Russia in Sept 2015. She also regaled the audiences with live performances of her Bollywood Jazz album in Bangkok (Aug 2016).
